Castelmar Hotel's building dates back to 1880. It was initially built to be used as army barracks, but then became one of the first hotels in Campeche city, and remained as such for almost a century.

In 2004 , its new owners started remodeling it completely, although they respected the original architecture, floors, ceilings, patio, hallways and decoration, without neglecting modern amenities.
